The Impact of Chinese Secret Societies in Malaya (1969)

The author writes with the authority of over thirty years experience in the Malayan Civil Service, being the Secretary for Chinese Affairs in the Federation of Malaya in the immediate postwar period, when there was a pronounced upsurge of the societies and thereafter Colonial Secretary. After retirement he returned to Malaya to devote three years of research to the subject and not only had access to all police and governmental records but, through his own familiarity with underworld channels, was able to interrogate numerous secret society bosses and members.
