Hedda Morrison, the wife of an official in Sarawak, has taken her camera and her gift for catching intimate reveal scenes on tour through this fascinating country. Sarawak is a land of contrasts; the population is mixed and includes large communities of Malays and Chinese who between the control most of the administration and commerce in the large cities. Far up the rivers, in the tropical jungles, live primitive tribes of nomads, some of them only recently reformed headhunters. Hedda Morrison’s technically brilliant photographs show in a most spontaneous way the mode of life of these varies peoples and the beautiful country in which they live.
